The Big Day

It came. I couldn't stop it from coming. I tried really, really hard; but even supermom's can't always win.

The dreaded (for me)first day of Kindergarten. He was ecstatic; I was a mess. My boy is growing up and I can't get in his way anymore. He's ready; he's excited; he can't wait to ride the bus home (all 1/4 mile). That Gavin has been waiting a long time to ride the bus!

Full-day Kindergarten; 7:30 - 1:45pm. Wow. That's a lot of free time. Oh wait, I still have one more; but, he's starting 4-day/week preschool next week. At least he's only gone from 9 - 12pm. I can handle that.

On Monday, I asked Gavin what he wanted to wear for his first day of school. He decided to go put on the outfit then show me. So he comes downstairs dressed to impress! Camoflauge shirt, camoflauge shorts, camoflauge winter coat, camoflauge backpack (see a theme!?). I had to laugh and asked him why he'd want all camoflauge. His response was classic, "when I get to my classroom everyone will start asking, "where's Gavin, where's Gavin" - but since I'm wearing camoflauge, they can't see me! I'm invisible! I'm like a tree! My teacher will call my name, and I'll answer - but she can't see me; she can only hear my voice. Wouldn't that be cool, Mom!?" Hilarious. Needless to say, he only got to wear the camoflauge shirt and the matching backpack! We'll save the rest for another (winter) day!

These boys of mine - man oh man do I love them.

Daddy and Ryan walking the halls of this brand new elementary school. Ryan so wishes he could stay with Gavin. How will these 15 months apart boys get along without each other!?!?
